Striper Fishing Spots On Lake Texoma

Eisenhower State Park Bluffs (Texas)

Eisenhower State Park offers camping, cabin rentals, and other non-fishing activities. Striped bass fishing peaks in May and June and again from October through December. Night fishing off the accessible lighted fishing piers for panfish, bass, and catfish is good. Striped bass fishing off the lighted pier is AMAZING from fall to spring and we recommend the point below Armadillo Hill for striped bass when northwest winds blow.

Denison Dam (Texas)

The Spillway Boat Ramp is closest to Denison Dam which forms Lake Texoma. With its convenient boat launch point, and easily accessible shoreline for bank fisherman, it’s a quick trip to deep water. It’s also a good place if you’re looking for a rocky shoreline that holds tons of striper, as well as a Smallmouth Bass or two! When the wind is in the right direction, the Striper will lurk along the various windblown points!

Make sure you get your Lake Texoma Fishing License! Unlike other Texas Lakes, Lake Texoma requires a specific Texoma Fishing License since it is a border lake.

North Island (Oklahoma)

Access from Highport Marina on the Texas side is about a 10 minute boat ride. Trolling around North Island can be good fishing during all times of the year.

West Burns Run (Oklahoma)

Located just north of Denison, Tx and accessed easily by the boat launch at the Denison Dam. A favorite of east end fisherman, the area running up and down West Burns Run to East Burns Run is a hot spot for guides and weekenders alike. Expect lots of boat traffic here.

Best Striper Fishing Lures For Fishing Lake Texoma

#1 ~ Sassy Shad Swimbaits

Shad is the one bait fish almost all fish seek as a food source, and the Sassy Shad is the closest imitation of this classic baitfish you’ll find anywhere. The Sassy Shad will out produce any other shad-type lures. It’s classic tail design and supple body give the Sassy Shad the natural shad action fish can’t resist. You can also add a spinner form for added flash and vibration for added attraction.

#2 ~ Pencil Poppers For Striper On Lake Texoma

There are many ways to fish for striper or striped bass. They can be caught at any time of year, although the spring spawning season yields the most spectacular bites (Hard to keep your rod in the water). The popular Pencil Popper, whether it be homemade or a Cotton Cordell, is ideal for targeting trophy stripers during springtime feeding frenzies. It’s erratic walk-the-dog action exaggerated by its weighted tail, helps you to cast it farther with better accuracy. Pencil Poppers are great on Lake Texoma. Since they create as much surface disturbance as possible, these lures act as a siren call to hungry stripers.

#3 ~ Slab Spoons For Striper Fishing

This technique is a very effective way to fish for striper on Lake Texoma, but it takes a little practice to master it. You simply cast your slab out, letting the bait fall all the way to the bottom. Then, for the retrieve, bounce the slab back off the bottom back to you. For those who fish for largemouth and smallmouth bass, it’s like hopping a jig or worm.
